It has been several weeks since my mind is pounded by several ideas. One of these ideas is to take my freelance work seriously. Though, I am currently teaching computer science, multimedia and animation in a prestigous university here in Zamboanga City, Philippines, freelance projects help me in improving my creative and technical skills as well as help me pay the bills. It is my plan to put up an IT business in the future. I am just waiting to finish my moral obligations to my current company as well as I am still raising funds to support the said business. The business would involve graphic design, multimedia design and development, video production, animation, web design and development, software development and training.
While still waiting for the right time to come, I decided to start building on the road to reach my goal. In recent International Multimedia Conference (Graphika Manila 2007) that I attended in Manila, the speakers pointed out several elements and ways to succeed in freelancing and in the multimedia industry. The following are the things that I gained from the conference which I plan to implement or follow:
- Develop creativity and skills.
- Promote myself.
- Be everywhere.
- Hold or participate in exhibitions.
- Collaborate with others.
Currently, I am holding accounts on Multiply and Youtube. My multiply account serves as my personal place in the cyberspace. It is where I post my rants, raves, experiences, personal pictures and videos. My Youtube account is basically to connect with the videobloggers worldwide. I started this account to be able to discuss stuff related to my freelance work, write technical and creative articles to help other multimedia artists and students, and tackle other stuff which may interest my readers (YOU! :))
In the coming days, I will be putting up my online portfolio. But for now please enjoy this blog and my other accounts. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for your comments, suggestions and possible collaboration.
